New Orleans VooDoo announces local tryout camp

The New Orleans VooDoo of the Arena Football League have scheduled a free-agent tryout camp in Hammond, LA in preparation for the 2005 AFL season, it was announced today by Head Coach Mike Neu.

The tryout camp will be held on Saturday, August 7 at Southeastern Louisiana University. In addition to the VooDoo coaching staff, New Orleans Saints personnel representatives will be on hand throughout the day to assist with the workouts in Hammond.

At the tryouts, players will compete at the following positions: wide receiver/defensive back, quarterback, offensive/defensive line and fullback/linebacker. Following registration, each player will warm up and then be timed and measured in the 40 yard dash, short shuttle and vertical jump. VooDoo coaches will then select candidates to participate in offensive and defensive drills.

Wide receivers, defensive backs and quarterbacks should arrive at 8:00 a.m. for registration. Offensive linemen, defensive linemen, fullbacks and linebackers should arrive at 12:30 p.m. for registration. Candidates must come dressed and ready to work out and have the appropriate shoes for running on Sprinturf. The registration fee is payable in cash or money order only. Please make money orders payable to the New Orleans VooDoo. Please bring exact change to registration. Kickers will not be evaluated at the camp, as a camp for kickers will be announced at a later date.

All participants will be required to sign a waiver to participate. Players must complete a registration form along with remitting the $50.00 registration fee for the camp. Registration forms and other camp information are available on the VooDoo's website at GoVooDoo.com.
