New Jersey Storm Adds Assistant Coach

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - New Jersey Storm Pro Lacrosse today named Peter Vipond Assistant Coach for the 2002-2003 season. The Storm, a member of the indoor National Lacrosse League, play eight home games at the Continental Airlines Arena.

Vipond brings 34 years of lacrosse playing and coaching experience to the Storm. He won four Minto Cups as a member of the Oshawa Green Gaels in the mid-1960's and was a finalist three times with the Brooklin Redmen in the 1970's. In the 1980's and 90's he became one of the most successful coaches in Canadian lacrosse history, winning one Minto Cup title with the Whitby Warriors and five Mann Cup championships with the Brooklin Redmen.

"Peter brings our club a wealth of experience and talent," Storm General Manager/Head Coach Jim Brady said. "We are thrilled that he will be assisting in what we hope will be a run to the National Lacrosse League playoffs."

The New Jersey Storm recently completed a successful inaugural season at the Continental Airlines Arena, in which the team averaged nearly 6,000 fans per contest. The 2002-2003 NLL season begins in late December. The Storm open at home on Saturday, January 4 versus the Columbus Landsharks at 7:30 p.m. Storm Season Ticket plans are on sale now.
