Brooklyn Aviators News Release

WAYNE, New Jersey - The New Jersey Outlaws escaped Saturday night's contest with a 5-4 overtime win over the Brooklyn Aviators at the Capital One Bank Ice Vault in Federal Hockey League action.

Travis Kauffeldt had a hat trick in the game for the Outlaws, with his third tally coming at the 1:32 mark of the overtime session. For the Aviators, Jo St. Pierre had 33 stops in the defeat.

Brooklyn trailed the Outlaws 3-0 after 20-minutes of play, despite controlling the first half of the opening frame. On their first shot of the game, Kauffeldt put the Outlaws up 1-0 on his 11th marker of the season. Matt Miller would double-up New Jersey's lead on his sixth tally of the year, 2-0, just 24-seconds later on a beautiful one-timer down low. Kauffeldt collected his second of the period short-handed with 5:46 left in the first, after he snapped the puck past the five-hole of St. Pierre.

Taking a page from the Outlaws book, the Aviators would put together a three goal period of their own in the second. Andrew Scampoli potted his first goal of the season on the power play at the 6:15 mark of the middle stanza to make the score 3-1. On a great individual effort down low, KC Timmons cut the Outlaws' lead to 3-2 on his third goal of the year that came with 6:53 left in the period. Brooklyn tied it, 3-3, with only 27-seconds left in the second after Jesse Felten put home the puck in front for his seventh goal of the season.

Matt Atsoff quickly gave the Aviators the lead 4-3, which was the team's fourth straight goal of the game, on his third tally of the campaign at the 3:29 spot of the third period. New Jersey tied it halfway through on the power play as Miller got his second of the contest with 7:11 left in regulation.

Timmons lead the Aviators offensively with two points in the losing effort. New Jersey goalie Dan McWhinney had 22 saves in the win.

The Brooklyn Aviators return home on Friday night to take on the Danbury Whalers at the Aviator Sports and Events Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:35 PM and can also be watch live on the Aviators broadcast network, powered by LiveSportsVideo.com.
