Wilkes-Barre, PA- The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers are pleased to announce the arenafootball2 league has assigned Michael Sykes for their 2006 training camp roster.
Sykes 5'10 245 pound FB/LB played with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers last season. Sykes was a 2003 Don Hansen's Football Gazette All-American National First Team on defense. In his three year career he totaled 26 sacks and in 2003 he was second in the nation averaging 1.6 per game.
"I've been actively recruiting Michael since I first got this job. He is extremely fast and quick, I have clocked him in the 40 yard dash at 4.39," said Head Coach Rich Ingold. "He is a tough hard nose player with great football instincts. He brings a positive attitude and great work ethic. He leads by example and makes players around him better."
