FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution Academy continued MLS NEXT Spring action this weekend as the U-19s traveled to New York to face FC Westchester. The U-15s and U-17s each faced D.C. United while the U-14s took on NEFC with all three matches happening at Gillette Stadium.
The U-19s and FC Westchester came to a 0-0 draw with goalkeeper Matt Tibbetts (2004 - Westborough, Mass.) recording his fourth clean sheet of the season. The U-17s also tied their game with D.C. United at 2-2. Forward Olger Escobar (2007 - Lynn, Mass.) and midfielder Jamie Kabuusu (2006 - Chestnut Hill, Mass.) each scored, with Kabuusu's goal coming in the 82nd minute to secure the point for New England.
The U-15s went back and forth with D.C. and came out on top by a score of 6-4. Forward Peyton Miller (2007- Unionville, Conn.) scored four of the six goals with forward Raphael Alves (2007 - Framingham, Mass.) notching the other two to secure the victory for the Revs. The U-14s also earned a victory on Saturday vs. NEFC as forwards Mesud Ramic (2008 - Weare, N.H.) and Trevor Steele (2008 - Wilbraham, Mass.) each scored to secure a 2-0 win alongside a clean sheet for goalkeeper Kaleb Curan (2008 - Londonderry, N.H.).
Revolution Academy teams are all back in action next weekend as the U-19s host New York Soccer Club at Gillette Stadium while the U-17s and U-15s each face CF Montreal on the Academy Grass Fields at the Revolution Training Center. The U-14s will travel to Taunton, Mass. to take on Intercontinental FA.
Revolution MLS NEXT & Alumni Highlights
U-17 forward Malcolm Fry (2005 - Groton, Mass.) made his professional debut with New England Revolution II on Sunday as he subbed in at the 79th minute in their season opener vs. NYCFC II. Fry became the 19th Academy player to make his professional debut.
Academy graduates Esmir Bajraktaevic, Meny Silva, Damian Rivera and Hikaru Fujiwara all earned a starting spot in Revolution II's lineup with Rivera recording the third brace in team history.
U-19 goalkeeper Matt Tibbetts (2004 - Westborough, Mass.) earned his fourth clean sheet in the 0-0 draw vs. FC Westchester.
U-17 forward Olger Escobar (2007 - Lynn, Mass.) scored his sixth goal of the season and midfielder Jamie Kabuusu (2006 - Chestnut Hill, Mass.) notched his first of the year to secure the draw vs. D.C. United.
U-15 forward Peyton Miller (2007- Unionville, Conn.) notched four goals vs. D.C. United to extend his team lead in goals scored to 19 in his 17 games played this season.
U-14 goalkeeper Kaleb Curan (2008 - Londonderry, N.H.) secured the clean sheet while forwards Mesud Ramic (2008 - Weare, N.H.) and Trevor Steele (2008 - Wilbraham, Mass.) each scored to lead their team to a 2-0 victory vs. NEFC.
