Nehring Hat Trick Caps off Stampede's 7-2 Win

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.- The Sioux Falls Stampede defeated the Lincoln Stars, 7-2, on Country Night at the PREMIER Center. Stampede forward Zach Nehring marked his first career USHL hat trick while a quartet of other Stampede players also marked their own goals. Christian Manz found the win in net as the Herd now moves to 26-24-5-1 this season.

Zach Nehring's first goal of the night was the only action in the first period, setting the Stampede up with a 1-0 lead heading into the next period. During the first frame, goaltender Christian Manz marked 12 saves while the Herd marked seven shots on goal.

The action picked up in the next 20 minutes with the Herd marking four goals against the Stars' only two. Kaz Sobieski earned his third goal of his season during his 100th career USHL game. Zach Nehring went on to find his second before the Stars answered back with 4:47 expired from the clock. Egor Barabanov marked his fourth goal of the season with help from Alex Rybakov and Noah Eyre. Almost 10 minutes ran off the clock before the Stars tallied their second and final goal of the night with three minutes remaining in the frame. Jaksen Panzer went on to increase the lead back to three goals when he scored just seven seconds later.

Finally, Nehring kicked off the final frame with his third goal of the night, marking a hat trick with 3:13 taken off the clock. Sealing the deal for the Herd, John McNelis added the seventh goal onto the Herd's side with just under eight minutes remaining in the game.

Christian Manz marked his 12th win of the year, moving his record to 12-11-1-1 this season. Manz stopped 33 shots, letting in just two, marking a .943 save percentage and 2.00 goals-against average. He now hosts a 4.38 GAA and .879 save percentage.

The Herd and Stars face off again next week in Lincoln, Neb. They'll then head to Kearney, Neb. the following weekend. The Herd closes the regular season on Apr. 13th against the Fargo Force for kid's night.
