Don't look now, but the Halifax Rainmen are moving up the standings, and if Thursday night's 122-107 win over the Summerside Storm are any indication, the Rainmen could be a force to reckon with in the postseason. Eight different Rainmen scored in double figures; led by Lawrence Wright's 19 bench points and 17 apiece by Tyrone Levett and Joey Haywood. Eric Crookshank's 10 boards were the most by his teammates that night. Taliek Brown had a double-double of 12 points and 11 assists.

Taliek Brown was the hero for Halifax on Sunday night, as his "hoop and a harm" in the last seconds gave the Rainmen a 109-108 victory on Sunday afternoon at the Metro Centre. Brown finished with 18 points; Lawrence Wright (23) and Tyrone Levett (21 pts, 8 rebs) also had strong nights for Halifax. Chris Hagan stole the ball four times.

With four new players in the lineup, optimism reigned high throughout Moncton for the team's first win. And with seconds remaining in their Tuesday night home matchup with the Saint John Mill Rats, Moncton tied the game up on two Andrew Francis free throws - 99-99 - and all looked well. But a last-minute three-pointer from Steve DeLuca sent the Miracles to their 11 th straight loss, 102-99. Victor Morris led the Miracles with 18 points; Darrell Wonge and Andrew Francis snagged 16 points apiece. Boubacar Coly finished with 15 points and 10 team-hgih rebonds.

The Oshawa Power are still fighting to stay in the upper half of the NBL Canada standings, but a 96-82 loss Friday night to the Quebec Kebs at PEPS didn't help their chances. Omari Johnson had a double-double with 26 points and 10 rebounds, while Akeem Wright also snagged a double-double with 21 points and 12 boards. Tut Ruach's double- double was built on 13 points and 11 rebounds; Ruach also had 7 assists.

The road trip for the Power continued with a Sunday stop in Nova Scotia. Down 20 points as the teams entered the fourth quarter, Oshawa went on a 20-to-8 run in the fourth quarter to catch up. And with a few seconds left in the fourth quarter, Oshawa clung to a six- point lead - only to watch it drift away to a 109-108 loss. Omari Johnson was one of six Motor City crewmembers to score in double figures; his 24 points led all Power players.
