The National Basketball League of Canada is saddened at the sudden and untimely passing of Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna Bryant, and three other helicopter passengers on Sunday, January 26. Our thoughts and prayers and support are with the Bryant family and the families of those who also perished in the crash.

Halifax Hurricanes

The Hurricanes need to right the ship right now, as Halifax continues to sink into the Atlantic Division cellar on two losses. The Hurricanes' scoring comes from three stalwarts - CJ Washington (26.0 ppg), Antoine Mason (22.0 ppg) and Chris Johnson (21.0 ppg). Washington also leads all rebounders for Halifax with 11.5 rpg.

Island Storm

The Storm's losing streak continues, causing the PEI crew to slip out of the top half of the Atlantic Division. Jonathan Loyd continued to light up the scoreboards with a 19.5 ppg average, while Robbie Robinson added a 15.5 ppg and 11.0 rebounds per game total.

KW Titans

The Titans struggled in their only game this week, falling 105-97 on Friday night against Windsor to slip further into the Central Division basement. The newly-acquired Justin Moss tied Jared Nickens with 15 points apiece; Moss also finished with a team-high 10 rebounds.

London Lightning

London's two-game road trip through the Maritimes saw the Bolts split two games, a win at Halifax, followed by a loss at Moncton. AJ Gaines was one of eight different Lightning players to average double figures; he had the highest at 18.5 ppg. Xavier Moon and Marcus Capers added 16.5 and 14.0, respectively.

Moncton Magic

Three big wins for the Magic, and Moncton continued to outpace the rest of the NBL's Atlantic Division. Billy White continued to dominate in the scoring totals, finishing with 24.7 ppg. Denzell Taylor leads all Magic rebounders with an 8.0 average.

St. John's Edge

After several home dates were postponed due to crippling ice and snow storms throughout Newfoundland and Labrador, the Edge were able to snag a Sunday afternoon win over Halifax, 109-104. Junior Cadougan was the top scorer for St. John's with 20, he also garnered 8 assists and two steals. Montay Brandon yanked down 12 assists in the victory.

Sudbury Five

Sudbury moved into second place in the NBL's Central Division with a 111-104 victory Sunday afternoon against the Windsor Express. Jaylen Bland had a monster scoring day for Sudbury with 43 points, including 11 3-pointers, tying a Five regular season player record. Brady Skeens came off the bench to pull down 14 rebounds.

Windsor Express

A split of two games for the Express this week, as the Rose City team still keeps their playoff hopes in the hunt. Shaquille Keith and Chris Jones garnered scoring of 22.5 ppg and 20.5 ppg, respectively; Keith also had a double- double for the week with 10.0 rpg.

The National Basketball League of Canada is pleased to announce that Billy White of the Moncton Magic has been named Player of the Week for the week ending January 26, 2020.

White, a 6'9" forward from San Diego State, averaged 24.7 ppg and pulled down 7.3 rpg in three Moncton victories this week.

NBL CANADA CANADIAN PLAYER OF THE WEEK

The National Basketball League of Canada is pleased to announce that Junior Cadougan of the St. John's Edge has been named Canadian Player of the Week for the week ending January 26, 2020.

Cadougan, a 6'1" guard who played collegiately at Marquette, hit a team-high 20 points in the Edge's Sunday victory over Halifax.
