Halifax is still in the upper division of the PBL, but a 112-102 road loss Thursday night against Summerside didn't help their cause. Tyrone Levett had 18 points and 9 rebounds for Halifax, leading the Rainmen in both categories. Taliek Brown added 17, while Chris Hagan had 13 for the Rainmen.
Next came a Thursday evening battle with the London Lightning at the MetroCentre. Even with 23 points from Joey Haywood, and a 10- rebound, 12-point night from Tyrone Levett, Halifax lost their second consecutive game, a 100-97 defeat at the hands of the Lightning. Taliek Brown added 16 points in the Rainmen loss.
The Summerside Storm returned to the MetroCentre, and the Rainmen were not going to take a third consecutive loss. And they didn't, thanks to 22 points from Taliek Brown and a 15-point, 15-rebound game from Tyrone Levett, the Rainmen took a 110-97 victory over Summerside.

On paper, a game between the league-leading London Lightning and the cellar-dwelling Moncton Miracles would be an easy pick. However, games are not played on paper, they're played on a court. And Moncton stepped up and took a 98-91 victory from the NBL division leaders, despite Gabe Freeman scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds. Eddie Smith added 20 points, while Shamari Spears put 15 on the board.
London continued their Maritime trip on Thursday night, taking a 100- 97 win over the Halifax Rainmen. Eddie Smith came off the bench to score 23 points for London, while Shawn Daniels achieved 17 points and 10 rebonds. Gabe Freeman contributed 18 points and 9 assists in the Lightning win.
On Sunday afternoon, in front of over 2,700 fans at John Labatt Centre, the Lightning brought another home win with a 125-99 triumph over the Saint John Mill Rats. Gabe Freeman led the Lightning with 29 points and 10 rebounds, while Shamari Spears and DeAnthony Bowden added 17 and 16 points, respectively.

It's not too late for the Moncton Miracles to fight for a playoff spot, and if Monday night's 110-95 victory over the Summerside Storm is any indication of what can happen for the Magnetic Hill crew, then Moncton may be in the mix at the end of the season. Trayvon Lathan's 27 points and 11 rebounds led the Miracles in both categories, while Akeem Wright added an extra 22 points into the mix.
On Thursday, January 26, the Miracles finally assembled their first winning streak, as they took a 98-91 upset win from the London Lightning. Darrell Wonge hit 23 points, one of five Miracles in double figures. Akeem Wright added 21, while Trayvon Lathan scored 20. Boubacar Coly added 11 rebounds.
Then came Sunday afternoon and a home battle against the Oshawa Power. Even with 25 points from Darrell Wonge, 24 from Boubacar Coly, 22 points and 10 rebounds from Trayvon Lathan and 20 points from Akeem Wright, Moncton lost 110-108 in overtime to the Power.

Despite the largest crowd to ever watch an NBL Canada game - 5,542 wedged into the General Motors Centre - the Oshawa Power fell 116- 109 loss to the Saint John Mill Rats, further damaging the Durham Region's pro basketball chance of postseason play. Brandon Robinson scored 34 points, a game high for the Power, while Morgan Lewis added 25 and Tut Ruach scored 23.
Next up for Oshawa was a Sunday afternoon road trip to Moncton to face the Miracles. Needing every win they can possibly gather, to keep their playoff hopes alive, Oshawa took a 110-108 overtime win over Moncton. Brandon Robinson added 30 points and 12 rebounds in the overtime win, while Omari Johnson built a double-double out of 22 points and 14 rebounds.

And thanks to 31 points from Darren Duncan and an 18-point, 12-rebound double- double from newly-acquired Andrew Francis, the Mill Rats defeated Oshawa 116-109.
The Mill Rats' next opponent, the London Lightning, weren't as accommodating. Despite losing 125-99 to London on Sunday afternoon, Darren Duncan and Isaac Kuon scored 22 and 20 points, respectively, for Saint John. Courtland Bluford scored 18 points and 7 rebonds for the New Brunswick crew.

A weary Summerside Storm traveled to Moncton Monday night, hoping to take out the Miracles and keep their playoff hopes alive. But Moncton jumped out to an early lead, and won the game 110-95. Summerside's top scorer was Stephen McDowell; he came off the bench to add 24 points to the game score. Jessan Gray added 14, while Xavier Hansbro and Al Stewart each scored 11 apiece.
On Thursday night, in front of a record home crowd at Consolidated Credit Union Place, the Summerside Storm pulled out a 112-102 victory over Halifax, thanks to 29 points from Stephen McDowell, 23 points and 16 rebounds from Louie McCroskey, and 12 assists from Al Stewart.
But on Saturday night, the Prince Edward Island crew tried to take another win against their Nova Scotia neighbours. It did not work - Summerside lost 110-97 to Halifax, even with 19 points from Louie McCroskey and a 16-point, 10-assist night from Al Stewart. Game reports compiled via team press releases, and from articles appearing in newspapers from the teams' home locations.
