NBL Canada Kicks off Third Season Tonight

November 1, 2013 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada) News Release

(TORONTO, ON): The National Basketball League of Canada kicks off its third season as the league's nine teams begin their quest for the NBL Canada Championship tonight.

"This season for the NBL Canada will prove to be its most exciting so far. Every team in the League is focusing on London, Ontario, as they all hope they can be the one to unseat the two-time defending champions," said NBL Canada Commissioner Paul Riley.

"The talent level in our league has never been higher and our fan base never been more rabid. We have rivalries based on proximity: Mississauga vs. Brampton and Saint John vs. Moncton, for example. And we have rivalries based on animosity: London vs. PEI, London vs. Halifax, and I guess you could say London vs. everyone. Its a new year, some really great new players, but the same passion is there from some of the best players & coaches in the world and from our owners."

Three games are on the docket tonight with Saint John visiting the Halifax Rainmen at the Metro Centre, the expansion Brampton A's will be at the Moncton Coliseum to face the Moncton Miracles, and the London Lightning will face their 401 rivals, the Windsor Express, at the WFCU Centre. All games are set for 7:00pm local time.

On Saturday, the London Lightning will host the Mississauga Power and conduct their ring and championship banner-raising ceremony at the Budweiser Gardens.
