EXTRA, EXTRA, READ ALL ABOUT IT! The 2004-05 All-NBDL team will be announced later today. There are five former first team All-NBDL players on current NBA rosters.
INDIVIDUALLY SPEAKING: The NBDL defensive player of the year, rookie of the year and the 2005 D-League MVP will be announced on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week, respectively.
CATCHING UP WITH FORMER D-LEAGUERS
· Bobby Simmons (Clippers) is 3rd in the NBA in 3 FG% (.454) and 13th
in total minutes played (,2588)
· Rafer Alston (Raptors) is 9th in the NBA in both assists per game
(6.7) and total assists (450)
· Chris Andersen (Hornets) is 14th in the NBA in blocked shots per 48
minutes with 3.1
· Anthony Johnson (Pacers) is 15th in the NBA in assists per turnover
at 3.14
WHO'S HOT? The Florida Flame has won six of its last nine games. In his last 10 games Flame point guard Smush Parker is averaging 19.9 points, 9.6 assists and 5.6 rebounds.
ALSO SIMMERING: Fayetteville guard David Young has averaged 27.8 points and converted 50-of-94 field goal attempts (.532) over his last five games.
NBDL QUIZ: Name the current NBDL players who played for any of the 2005 NCAA Final Four teams?
DÃJÃ VU ALL OVER AGAIN? Roanoke closed the 2003-04 season by losing 10 consecutive games. Still in second place, the Dazzle has lost eight of its last 10 this season.
GO SOUTHWEST YOUNG MEN: In-market announcements and media availabilities for NBDL expansion cities are scheduled for Tuesday in Tulsa at the Expo Square Pavilion and Wednesday in Albuquerque at Tingley Coliseum. The Tulsa press conference begins at 2 p.m. CT.
POSTSEASON ON NBA TV: The 2005 NBDL semi-final and final postseason games will be shown on NBA TV on a tape-delayed basis. Semi-final games will air on Thursday, April 21 and Friday, April 22 at 3:30 p.m. ET. The postseason championship game will be aired on Monday, April 25 at 3:30 p.m. ET. All will re-air at various times in late April and early May.
QUIZ ANSWER: Current Asheville and former North Carolina guard Joe Forte wins the NBDL player pool. Of the 22 current D-Leaguers whose alma maters were in the tourney, Forte is the only current player whose collegiate program made it to the Final Four.
