January 12, 2005 - NBA G League (G League) News Release
WHO'S HOT: The Columbus Riverdragons and Huntsville guard Bernard King. The Dragons have won 12 straight games. Over his last five games, King is averaging 25.4 points.
WHO'S NOT: The road has not been kind to NBDL teams in the last week. Road teams are 2-6 since January 6.
TWO OF THREE: Florida begins a six-game road swing tonight at Roanoke. Two of the Flame's three victories this season have come over the Dazzle.
ONE OF THREE: Huntsville center Mengke Bateer is one of just three Chinese players to have competed in the NBA. Yao Ming (Rockets) and Wang Zhizhi (Heat) are the others. Through an injury-plagued career, Bateer has played in 46 NBA games with Denver, San Antonio and Toronto. Bateer and the Nuggets met Wang and the Mavericks as the first two Chinese players to face each other in an NBA game on March 3, 2002.
NBDL QUIZ: Can you name the current NBDL player who was on the team that defeated Yao Ming and the Chinese National Team for the gold medal in the 2002 Asian Championships?

NBDL QUOTE OF THE DAY: "At first, it was kinda tough. But as I got used to it, I think it's a good chance for the team to get some chemistry and bond - talking for four or five hours on the bus ride. You get to know the guys, play around, have fun and relax a little bit away from the game. It doesn't really bother me."...Asheville guard Tim Bowers to the Asheville Citizen-Times on traveling in the D-League.
QUIZ ANSWER: Roanoke guard Sung Yoon Bang's Korean National Team defeated the Chinese National Team for the Asian Game gold medal in 2002.
