LIFE SKILLS: Mid-December marks the first installment of the NBDL's 2004-05 Life Skills Workshops, further emphasizing the league's commitment to total player development. Tausha Robertson, a health education consultant from the University of North Carolina will conduct workshops for each team on AIDS, steroids and supplements, while Mark Johnson of Merrill Lynch will conduct workshops on money management.

INTERNATIONAL PENNEY: Asheville guard Kirk Penney, a native of New Zealand, has represented his country at the Olympic Games in 2000 and 2004, the Goodwill Games in 2001, and the World Championships in 2002.

RUNS IN THE FAMILY: Huntsville Flight guard Bernard King comes by his basketball skills naturally. Victor, Bernard's father, was a second round selection of the Los Angeles Lakers in 1979 NBA Draft.

HUNTSVILLE AT HOME: Huntsville is host to Columbus tonight at the Von Braun Center in the home opener for the Flight, who is looking for its first win of the young season. Huntsville hopes recent history is not an indicator, however. The Flight was 10-13 at home last season.

ROAD DRAGONS: Tonight is the first road game of the season for Columbus after a 2-0 start at home. The Riverdragons play four straight on the road before returning home.

GREAT DEAL: The Riverdragons return home December 5 to host the Roanoke Dazzle, opening a four-game homestand. The game will feature "Buy One-Get One Free Night", as fans who purchase a regularly priced ticket will receive another ticket of equal value free.

NBDL QUIZ: A current NBDL player shares the league record for steals in a game with 2002 NBDL Rookie of the Year Fred House. Can you name that player?
