Reno Bighorns News Release
RENO, Nev.-The Reno Bighorns have signed nine-year NBA veteran Bobby Simmons, who has played over 400 NBA games with the Wizards, Clippers, Bucks, Nets and Spurs.
Simmons, a 6-6, 235-pound shooting guard out of DePaul, has averaged 9.4 points per game over his 438-game NBA career. He enjoyed his best season during the 2004-05 campaign, when he averaged 16.4 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game while playing for the Los Angeles Clippers. That season, he shot 43.5% from beyond the arc.
Simmons takes the roster spot of Thomas Gardner, who was waived due to injury earlier today. Reno will retain Gardner's rights and expects to re-sign him when he becomes healthy.
Simmons previously played in the NBA Development League during the 2002-03 season, when he averaged 17.1 points per game in 14 games with the now-defunct Mobile Revelers.
He is expected to wear number 32 and be active for this weekend's back-to-back contests against the Utah Flash.
Reno and Utah lock horns this Friday and Saturday in the Reno Events Center, with each game set to tip-off at 7 p.m. PT. Fans can purchase tickets for the games by calling (775) 284-2622 or visiting ticketmaster.com or the Silver Legacy box office.
Reno Bighorns group tickets and fan experience packages are on sale now by calling the Bighorns front office at (775) 284-2NBA or visiting RenoBighorns.com. Fans can high-five the players, play a game-before-the-game on the Bighorns court, perform a talent routine and more.
