May 1, 2003 - NBA G League (G League)
Fayetteville Patriots News Release
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C., May 1, 2003 â Fayetteville's Festival of Flight will have a road element to it for six days. Between May 20-25, the NBA Jam Van will be parked at the Festival of Flight event. The Festival of Flight runs May 16-26.
NBA Jam Van is a mobile version of the NBA All-Star Jam Session, the league's popular fan event that attracts thousands of fans during the NBA All-Star festivities. The NBA first put the Jam Van on the road in 1996. It will stop in Fayetteville because of the Fayetteville Patriots' affiliation with the NBA.
Redesigned graphics and updates of NBA and WNBA player images have been added, including the revamped Walk of Fame, which allows fans to compare their foot size with NBA stars Tracy McGrady, Antawn Jamison, Jay Williams, Tim Duncan and Antoine Walker.
Other new features include:
Extended video arcade, featuring Sony PlayStation 2 and latest NBA video games including: NBA Live 2003, NBA Starting 5, NBA Street, NBA 2K3, NBA ShootOut 2003.
A jam-packed partner bazaar area with adidas, America Online, LEGO, MBNA, McDonald's and Speed Stick offering great giveaways.
A new television screen featuring NBA Entertainment's greatest videos.
NBA Family Information Center with the latest schedule and ticket info.
The Jam Van will be parked in the Crown Expo Center parking lot until the close of The Festival of Flight each day.
"We are very happy the Jam Van is going to be accessible,'' said Gordon Clapp, the president and chief executive officer of the Festival of Flight. "Even though the van is on wheels, basketballs traditionally fly hot and heavy throughout North Carolina all year. The NBA Jam Van adds another fun exhibit that allows families to view the past, present and future of aviation."
Festival of Flight presents a series of aviation related events celebrating the 100-year anniversary of the Wright Brothers' achievement in Kitty Hawk, N.C., in 1903. The Festival of Flight features a weekend arts festival, a two-day military air show at Pope AFB, a general aviation air show at Grannis Field and a seven-day exposition with aviation displays and interactive exhibits, all of which will culminate with a spectacular Memorial Day celebration.
. The Aviation Exposition will run for seven days at Fayetteville's Crown Center where four distinct exhibition facilities provide 120,000 square feet of indoor exhibit space.
"The city of Fayetteville and the Festival of Flight organizing committee have worked extremely hard to put together a first-rate event, which will showcase aviation and Fayetteville in a positive light,'' said Todd DeMoss, team president of the Fayetteville Patriots. "The NBA Jam Van will only enhance the other outstanding attractions planned for the Festival of Flight."
The customized NBA Jam Van tractor/trailer transforms using an on-board hydraulic system, which opens one of the trailer's long-side panels to reveal the Jam Van's exhibits and interactive features. A steel arm is used to support the truck's four basketball hoops, which extend from the rear of the trailer.
