CLEVELAND CAVALIERS ASSIGN SAMARDO SAMUELS TO NBA D-LEAGUE AFFILIATE ERIE BAYHAWKS
Cleveland Cavaliers forward Samardo Samuels was assigned to the Erie BayHawks, Cleveland's NBA Development League affiliate. The assignment marks the 21st time in the 2010-11 season an NBA player has been assigned to an NBA D-League affiliate, and it is the first assignment for Samuels, a rookie out of Louisville. Samuels (6-9, 260) has appeared in four games this season for Cleveland, averaging 3.3 points in 4.5 minutes. The Cavaliers signed Samuels, an early entry candidate for the 2010 NBA Draft, as an undrafted free agent on Aug. 16. Samuels averaged 13.5 points and 5.9 rebounds in two seasons at Louisville.
LOS ANGELES LAKERS ASSIGN DEVIN EBANKS TO NBA D-LEAGUE AFFILIATE BAKERSFIELD JAM
Los Angeles Lakers forward Devin Ebanks was assigned to the Bakersfield Jam, the Lakers' NBA Development League affiliate. The assignment marks the 22nd time in the 2010-11 season an NBA player has been assigned to an NBA D-League affiliate, and it is the first assignment for Ebanks, a rookie out of West Virginia. Ebanks (6-9, 215) has appeared in 12 games this season for the Lakers, averaging 2.9 points and 1.5 rebounds in 6.4 minutes. The Lakers drafted Ebanks, an early entry candidate for the 2010 NBA Draft, in the second round (43rd overall). In two seasons at West Virginia, Ebanks averaged 11.2 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists.
FORT WAYNE'S LAFAYETTE NAMED NBA DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE PERFORMER OF THE WEEK
Oliver Lafayette of the Fort Wayne Mad Ants was named NBA Development League Performer of the Week for games played during the week of Dec. 20. Lafayette led Fort Wayne to a 2-0 record on the week, averaging 25.5 points and 7.0 rebounds. In the Mad Ants' 109-105 win over Springfield on Dec. 25, Lafayette scored a team-high 27 points on 10-of-16 shooting. The next day, Lafayette scored a game-high 24 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, leading Fort Wayne to a 109-102 victory over Iowa.

Cleveland Cavaliers assignee Samardo Samuels hit for 12 points in his D-League debut, joining six other BayHawks in double figures as Erie defeated Dakota. Fellow Cavs assignee Christian Eyenga added 14 points for Erie. Memphis Grizzlies assignee DeMarre Carroll led Dakota with 20 points.
Joe Alexander led four 20-plus scorers for Texas with a game-high 31 points, as the Legends defeated Rio Grande Valley in overtime. Dallas Mavericks assignee Dominique Jones added 24 points, Justin Dentmon scored 22 points and Sean Williams tallied 22 points and a season-high 22 rebounds for the Legends. Garrett Temple led the Vipers with 27 points. Mustafa Shakur added 24 points and six assists.

26 players with NBA D-League experience competed in 10 NBA games last night, eight as starters.
Golden State's Dorell Wright scored 28 points on 8-for-11 shooting in a win over Philadelphia.
