NEW ANAHEIM ATTRACTION: The D-League has awarded an expansion team to Anaheim, Calif. for the 2006-07 season, NBA Commissioner David Stern announced Tuesday. The team will play at The Arena at the Anaheim Convention Center.
THEY SAID IT: "We hope they're tremendously successful. It could be a shot in the arm for basketball in Orange County." ... Tim Ryan, president of the company that runs the Pond, told the Los Angeles Times in regard to Anaheim's affiliation with the D-League.
WHAT ELSE IS NEW? In addition to Anaheim, new D-League teams for 2006-07 include the Colorado 14ers (Broomfield), Dakota Wizards (Bismarck, N.D.), Sioux Falls Skyforce (S.D.), Idaho Stampede (Boise) and the Bakersfield Jam (Calif.).
PLAYOFF SCHEDULE: The 2006 NBA Development League Championship presented by
Delta Air Lines begins on Saturday with a pair of semi-final games.
Following is the semi-final round schedule:

Saturday April 15 Florida (3) at Albuquerque (2) 1 p.m. MT
Saturday April 15 Roanoke (4) at Fort Worth (1) 7 p.m. CT
TITLE GAME: The winners of the two semi-final games will meet the weekend of April 21-22 at the arena of the highest remaining seed. If Fort Worth or Albuquerque host, the game will be on Saturday, April 22. Should Florida host Roanoke, the date and time are TBA.
TROPHY PRESENTATION: The Fort Worth Flyers will be honored for their regular season title in a pre-game ceremony prior to Saturday's semi-final playoff game against the Roanoke Dazzle.
