TIGHT RACE: The race for playoff position in the D-League is so tight that Florida's loss to Roanoke on Friday, combined with the tiebreaker system, dropped the Flame from second place to out of the postseason if the season were over today.

TOP TWO: Tonight's game between Roanoke and Florida pits the top two scorers in the D-League with the Dazzle's Anthony Grundy (23.2 pg) invading the home floor of Florida's Bracey Wright (22.0 pg). Wright scored 26 and Grundy 23 in Roanoke's win at Germain Arena on Friday.

BASS TO TULSA: The New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets assigned rookie forward Brandon Bass to the Tulsa 66ers on Friday. Bass' assignment is the 38th this season, spread over 28 players from 19 NBA teams.

THEY SAID IT: "Brandon is a very talented player and has improved greatly throughout the year in practice. Assigning him to the D-League will allow him to get the game experience he needs to grow as a professional while we monitor that development." ... NOK Hornets GM Jeff Bower on assigning Brandon Bass to Tulsa and the D-League.

D-LEAGUE CARES: The Tulsa 66ers will host a free Coaches Helping Coaches Clinic at the Expo Square Pavilion on March 27. Tulsa coach Joey Meyer will work with area basketball coaches on fundamental defensive, ball-handling/shooting, and rebounding/fastbreak drills.

QUICK HEALER: The Austin Toros reacquired center Scott Merritt on Friday and waived guard Ezra Williams to rehab an injury. Merritt was waived by the Toros on March 21 due to injury and missed two games before being medically cleared to play.
