PASS MR. HAYES SOME GATORADE: The Houston Rockets signed Albuquerque Thunderbirds forward Chuck Hayes to a 10-day contract Wednesday, making him the fourth GATORADE Call-Up of the 2005-06 NBA Development League season and the 54th overall since the league began play in November 2001.

FIRST PICK PLAY: Wednesday's Fort Worth-Austin game featured three NBA first round draft picks, Austin's Marcus Fizer (Chicago Bulls, 4th overall, 2000), as well as Fort Worth's Martell Webster (Portland Trail Blazers, 6th overall, 2005) and Sergei Monia (Portland Trail Blazers , 23rd overall, 2004). Fizer topped the night, scoring 23 and grabbing eight rebounds in 36 minutes. Webster played 19 minutes, scored 11 and had three rebounds. Monia had eight points and three rebounds in 17 minutes.

REBOUNDING JONES: Florida center Dwayne Jones, on assignment from the Timberwolves, collected 19 rebounds Wednesday to give him 61 over the last four games, 15.3 per game.

SAY OLE': Fort Worth waived the red cape at the Toros on Wednesday, falling behind by 17, and then deftly slipped it away by outscoring Austin by 20 in the third quarter to snap the Toros' win streak at six games.

TODAY ON NBA TV: Albuquerque's T.J. Cummings is scheduled to be a guest on "NBA TV Insiders" at 7:20 p.m. ET.

FROM THE FLAME TO THE HEAT: The Miami HEAT recalled Dorell Wright and Earl Barron from the Florida Flame. The two were assigned on January 3. Wright appeared in six games for Florida, averaging 12.2 points and 3.8 rebounds in 20.7 minutes per game. Barron also appeared in six games, averaging 29.2 minutes, 17.0 points and 9.7 rebounds. Florida was 4-2 while Wright and Barron were around.

SOW RETURNS TO RAPS: The Toronto Raptors recalled forward Pape Sow from Arkansas on Wednesday. Sow takes 33.7 minutes, 19.7 points and 11.6 rebounds back to the NBA with him.

KJ RETURNS TO ABQ: Albuquerque reacquired center Ken Johnson and waived Randy Orr on Wednesday. Johnson, 6-11, 240, was waived by the Thunderbirds on December 29 to rehabilitate an ankle injury. He has played in 11 games (nine starts), averaging 28.7 minutes, 10.2 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.2 blocked shots.
