April 26, 2013 - Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL)
North Shore Navigators News Release
(Lynn, MA) April 30, 2013---This season, Sunday games at Fraser Field will take the crowd back to 1946. The North Shore Navigators will be sporting throwback Lynn Red Sox jerseys on Sundays and other selected dates during their sixth season. The Lynn Red Sox were the minor league affiliate of the Boston Red Sox from 1946-1948. The team was the first to call Fraser Field home.

Salvi Sports New England LLC, the company which owns and operates the North Shore Navigators, made the announcement today. The Navigators are part of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League, one of the most talented college wood bat leagues in the country. The Lynn Red Sox jerseys are exact replicas the team wore decades ago. Lynn in red letters is written across the front of the white jersey.

"Fans will love seeing these historic jerseys at Fraser Field. We are excited to recreate a piece of minor league baseball history and share it with a new generation," said Patrick A. Salvi of Salvi Sports. "I am also very grateful to the MLB and the Boston Red Sox for permission to let us showcase these uniforms."
ÃâÃÂ
The throwback jerseys bring more than just a new look to the team. They bring up the deep history that Fraser Field is known for. The Lynn Red Sox were led by future Boston Red Sox catcher, Matt Batts. He went on to play for several other major league teams, but played early in his career with the Lynn Red Sox in 1946.
While the Lynn Red Sox finished in first place during regular season play in the New England League, they lost during playoffs to the Nashua Dodgers. The Nashua Dodgers were the first professional team in the country to be racially integrated and included pitcher Don Newcombe and catcher Roy Campanella. According to The Fraser Story by Robert Kearney, it was at Fraser Field where Hall of Famer Roy Campanella hit his first minor league home run against the Lynn Red Sox in 1946. It was also the park's first professional home run.

"While The Navigators are the North Shore's team now, it all started with the Lynn Red Sox. We were very careful to replicate the 1946 team uniforms down to the last detail," Terlecky added.
The Navigators home opener is Saturday, June 8th at 7:00 PM. Season tickets and party deck reservations are available now by calling the Navs at (781) 595-9400.
