Naturals Doomed by Big Inning

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark - Orlando Calixte and Brian Fletcher each had two hits but a six-run seventh inning proved to be too much for the Northwest Arkansas Naturals to overcome as they dropped an 8-3 decision against the Arkansas Travelers on Wednesday. Despite tonight's loss, the Naturals won their second straight series against the Travelers after winning the first three games of the four-game series.
Arkansas took the lead with Randal Grichuk's 11th home run of the season in the second inning and added to their lead with a run in the third inning for a 2-0 lead. The Naturals tied the game in the fifth as Orlando Calixte singled to bring home Brett Eibner, with Calixte scoring on a Cheslor Cuthbert groundout.
Calixte and Cuthbert combined for the Naturals' third run of the game as Calixte reached on a leadoff single, advanced to third on a Brian Fletcher single and scored on Cuthbert's third double since joining the Naturals.
The Travelers broke the game open with six runs in the seventh inning. Rolando Gomez singled to score Kaleb Cowart for the game-tying run with one out, while a Jimmy Swift sacrifice fly gave the Travs a 4-3 lead. Taylor Lindsey gave Arkansas a bit of breathing room with a three-run home run, with C.J. Cron providing the final run of the game as he singled to score Randal Grichuk.
Buddy Boshers earns the win for the Travs. Boshers walked one and struck out a batter in an inning of work. Starter Lay Batista allowed three runs on seven hits with one walk and six strikeouts in seven innings.
Aaron Brooks is charged with his first Double-A loss. Brooks allowed six runs on seven hits with two walks and three strikeouts in 6.1 innings.
The Naturals travel to Tulsa as they begin a four-game series with the Drillers tomorrow night. Brooks Pounders (1-4, 4.64 ERA) will start for the Naturals. Texas League All-Star Tyler Matzek is scheduled to start for the Drillers.
