Nastiuk named WHL Player of the Month

Calgary - The Western Hockey League today announced that Kevin Nastiuk of the Medicine Hat Tigers has been named the HUSKY WHL Player of the Month for September / October.

The 19-year-old goaltender from Edmonton, Alberta recorded 10 wins and a tie, including an incredible six shutouts during the month of September / October. Nastiuk also recorded a shutout string of three consecutive games and 223 minutes.

Nastiuk recorded a very impressive goals against average of 0.89, and a .968 save percentage. He has allowed only eight goals on 278 shots in 659 minutes played, which is an average of 25 shots per game.

Nastiuk, was drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft and is currently first among WHL goaltenders in goal against average, save percentage and shutouts. He is also tied for first in wins.

His accomplishments make Kevin Nastiuk a deserving choice as the HUSKY WHL Player of the Month for September / October.
