
NASL Teams Win Six of Eight US Open Cup Matches

NEW YORK, NY (May 28, 2014) - The eight US-based North American Soccer League (NASL) teams began their quest for the 2014 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup (#NASLTheCup) this evening joining the competition and putting their stamp on the tournament immediately. Six of the eight US-based NASL clubs won their Third Round matches and will continue the drive to potentially qualify as one of the four U.S. representatives to the CONCACAF Champions League.
"Tonight's results show the strength and passion of the NASL clubs and we are very proud of the play on the pitch," said NASL Commissioner Bill Peterson. "This clearly sets up some very interesting and exciting games in the 4th Round and while we will be honoring the World Cup and on our break, our clubs will be prepared for the next round."
