TALE OF THE TAPE
When Columbus has the ball: QB Casey Kacz has lit up the PIFL this season. Kacz leads the league in yards per game with 293.3. His favorite target has been former Venom WR Terrance Ebagua. Ebagua leads the PIFL with 18 TD receptions. WR's John Harris (nine TDs) and Jamon Fortson (eight TDs) round out a tough trio of pass catchers. Kendrick Perry is a load carrying the ball behind arguably the best offensive line in the PIFL.
The Venom defense has come on strong as of late earning them the number one ranking in points allowed in the league. In their previous game against Erie, Doug Rippy was credited with 4.5 sacks earning him the Week 7 Defensive Player of the Week honors. DB Kenny Veal has returned a turnover in the last three of the last four contests. In those three contests the defense has forced 17 turnovers.
When Nashville has the ball: The Venom are on a three game winning streak and are averaging 63.3 points during that stretch. QB Charles McCullum and WR Jordan Jolly have feasted on opponents. In the three games McCullum has thrown 17 TDs with 10 going to Jolly. The offensive line has played better each week. Stanlee Bradley scored two TDs on the ground in the previous game.
DB Chris Pickett and Roshawn Marshall lead the Lion defense. The DBs lead the team with 27 tackles apiece. Pickett is the leader in interceptions with five and Marshall is right behind him with four.
Intangibles: This will start a two game home stand for the Venom. They control their own destiny by defeating the top two teams this season head to head. The Lions will look to stay in the thick of things with a win. Losing to the Venom would make them 0-2 head to head which is the first tie breaker.
