Nashville SC News Release
NASHVILLE - With Nashville hosting the men's international soccer rivalry of U.S. vs. Mexico on September 11 at Nissan Stadium, U.S. Soccer and head coach Dave Sarachen spent Wednesday in Nashville, holding a press conference, a coaches Q&A and a youth clinic to connect to the community ahead of the game.
Nashville SC participated in the clinic in the afternoon with U.S. Soccer and the Tennessee State Soccer Association as Nashville SC head coach Gary Smith and players Justin Davis, CJ Cochran and Jordan Dunstan all assisted in coaching kids from around Nashville at East Park in East Nashville.
"I think it is really exciting to have U.S. Soccer here," said Smith. "It attracts so much attention when the national manager is around. It's fabulous. I know Dave pretty well from my time in MLS, and he is a great guy. These events are wonderful for the local community, and its massive for us as well at Nashville Soccer Club. A big part of the organization, from the very beginning, was to make sure we are as close to the community as possible, and these kids have really enjoyed today."
For Smith and his team, drawing in the Nashville community has been pivotal to the team's success in its inaugural season. The fans have filled up First Tennessee Park for every Nashville home game, and that support has led Nashville SC to the best home record in the USL.
"This city has been quite phenomenal. To see the way the fans have been attracted by the team the way they have, the whole franchise has grown and the excitement around it has just been so exciting. I think in the state and of course in the country in general, the amount of new franchises and the way this game has been invested in is just incredible. The growth is phenomenal, and I can't see any way that it stops."
Nashville SC will be back at home on Saturday night at First Tennessee Park at 7:30 p.m. as they take on Bethlehem Steel FC. Tickets are still available at NashvilleSC.com/tickets.
