Nashville Rhythm owner's new record taking national radio by storm

August 21, 2004 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Nashville Rhythm News Release

Nashville, TN. Without the backing from a major record label, independent artist, and co-owner of the ABA's Nashville Rhythm professional basketball team Sally Anthony's new single - VENT - is taking radio by storm. In just three weeks, the single has been added to over 55 Top 40 and AC stations nationwide. The new album, VENT, being released on Sally's record label, Gracie Productions, will be available in stores August 31st.

Anthony, whose passionate goal is empowering women (and who hired the first woman professional coach for her team), wrote the rocking title track about letting frustrations out and breaking free from barriers that often inhibit us. The album as a whole focuses on being the underdog, self-exploration and trusting your inner voice, topics that Anthony identifies with as she continues to define herself as a talented performer, businesswoman and advocate for women's rights. All of the recording's songs are written or co-written by Anthony who also co-produced the album with producer/writer Jason Bowen. "I want to break down walls for women," states Anthony. "I want to write and produce music that isn't necessarily about love and broken hearts. I'm trying tol put out an album that lights a fire under the aprons and tutus."

Earlier this year, Anthony purchased the Nashville ABA team, The Nashville Rhythm and made history by naming Ashley McElhiney the first female coach of a men's professional basketball team. In the coming months, Anthony will launch www.pearlgirlent.com, a website that supports female artists by giving them a forum to share their music and gain support from other talented women. VENT is being distributed by Galgano Records and will be available in all Transworld stores including FYE, Coconuts and Wherehouse Music on August 31. The album can be preordered at www.sallyanthony.com. And the single is available for a free download at http://www.sallyanthony.com/downloads.php.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
