Fresh from their trip to Atlanta where the Kats faced the Georgia Force in practice and scrimmage sessions, the Kats returned to work at their familiar practice facility: the Baptist Sports Park Bubble on Saturday. After team and position meetings, players partook in a light practice Saturday that focused primarily on special teams throughout the session; giving coaches and players a chance to see highly-touted free-agent signing WR/KR Carlos Wright in his realm.
In Atlanta, the Kats went through one-on-one sessions, three-on-three sessions, team sessions and of course, a live 60-play scrimmage that was open to Georgia Force season ticket holders. The Kats were also greeted by some of their former teammates; DB Rober' Freeman (who spent 2005 with the Kats) and WR/KR Jarrick Hillery (who spent 2000-01 and 2005-06 with the Kats).
Kats players will have Sunday, Feb. 18 off before returning to their normal two-a-day practices on Monday, Feb 19.
While players are busy rehabilitating their battered bodies, Head Coach Pat Sperduto and staff will be busy evaluating film from the week's training camp practices and from the scrimmage against the Force, proceeding closer and closer to the team's final roster.
The Arena Football League mandates that team rosters be down to 24 active players on Monday, Feb. 26.
Kats coaches have also begin the preliminary scouting work for their March 1st match-up with the Columbus Destroyers in preparation for the first game of the 2007 AFL season, with the contest being just over 12 days away.
The Kats 2007 season is set to kick-off Thursday, March 1st when the club hosts the Columbus Destroyers. Nashville will compete in the AFL's Central Division, a talent-rich division that houses the past two ArenaBowl Champions (Chicago Rush 2006, Colorado Crush 2005) and added the Kansas City Brigade in a realignment change.
