Fort Lauderdale Strikers News Release
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Wednesday, May 6, 2015) - Fort Lauderdale Strikers goalkeeper Joe Nasco's surgery last week was deemed successful by team doctors. The 30-year-old goalkeeper underwent a procedure to repair both a fractured fibula and broken bone in his foot. The early prognosis is that he will be able to resume light physical activity in approximately four weeks and return to the team during the North American Soccer League (NASL) Fall Season.
"It's tough losing a player like Joe to injury, who is a great guy on the field and a leader in the locker room," said Strikers General Manager Amaury Nunes "His surgery went well and we hope to have him back during the fall season."
Nasco's injury occurred while making a save against Tom Heinemann in the ninth minute of the match against Ottawa Fury FC on April 25 at TD Place Stadium in Ottawa. It was Nasco's first start in a Strikers uniform.
"I am thankful for all of the support, messages and well-wishes from the fans both after the injury and following surgery," said Nasco. "My family and I appreciate it. I hope to get back out there as soon as I can."
