This Week's Recap and Results
Wednesday, March 21: Wheeling - 3 vs. Toledo- 1
Goaltender Peter Delmas pitched 56 minutes of shutout hockey, to help lead the Nailers to a 3-1 home victory over the Toledo Walleye. Playing in just his third game, Brandon Defazio scored his first professional goal in the game. Toledo defenseman Sebastien Piche broke up the shutout bid by Delmas, by scoring on his former junior hockey teammate at Lewiston, with a wrist shot from the point.
Saturday, March 19: Wheeling - 3 vs. South Carolina - 0
After being just four minutes shy of his second career shutout, Peter Delmas was able to earn that honor, with a 17-save shutout on Saturday with the Stingrays. Newcomer Chris Kushneriuk put in a solid professional debut, logging a goal and an assist. Joey Haddad scored twice, while Paul Crowder continued his consistent play, posting three assists. The win was the thrid straight for the Nailers. The announced crowd of 4,640 was the largest of the season at WesBanco Arena.
Saturday, Jan 22: Wheeling - 2 vs. Kalamazoo-- 4
Kalamazoo's Bryan Jurynec scored his third goal of the season halfway through the third, to lift the Wings to a 4-2 victory over Wheeling. Twice the Nailers took leads in the game, but K-Zoo countered to tie the game each time. The win clinched a playoff spot for the Wings. Chirs Kushneriuk and Brandon DeFazio scored thier second career goals in the loss.
