Wheeling Nailers News Release
WHEELING, WV- The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, have announced a transaction, which takes effect immediately. Wheeling has traded forward Alexandre Carrier to the Atlanta Gladiators in exchange for defenseman Dalton Reum.
Reum, 25, is playing in his fifth professional season, all of which have been spent in the ECHL, as he has suited up with the Idaho Steelheads, Wichita Thunder, and Atlanta Gladiators. Dalton first broke into the pro ranks with Idaho during the 2013-14 campaign, picking up eight points and 76 penalty minutes in 52 games. After being limited to two points in 26 games the following year with Wichita, the blueliner turned in his most productive season of his career, as he tallied four goals, 12 points, and 111 penalty minutes in 65 contests with the Thunder.
Last year, the Camrose, Alberta native registered eight points in 44 games with Atlanta, during his first season in the Eastern Conference. Thus far this season, Reum has two penalty minutes in two games. Prior to turning pro, Dalton played three years of junior hockey in the WHL with the Vancouver Giants and Swift Current Broncos.
Carrier, 26, had yet to appear in a game this season, but has played in 202 games throughout his professional career, which has seen him play in four different leagues. Alexandre had two stints with Wheeling, going scoreless in ten games in during the 2013-14 campaign, before accumulating five points in 17 tilts last season. Those five points capped off a career year for the experienced forward, as he completed the slate with 15 points between three different clubs. The St-Elzear-de-Beauce, Quebec native had a few other notable seasons. In 2014-15, he played at three different levels, advancing from the SPHL to the ECHL to the AHL. One year later, he tacked more games on at the AHL level, while collecting five goals and 13 points in the ECHL with the Adirondack Thunder. Following a three-year junior hockey career with the QMJHL's Val-d'Or Foreurs, Carrier spent one season playing in Austria.
Dalton Reum and the Wheeling Nailers will play two games on the road this weekend, as they visit the Brampton Beast on Friday and Sunday. The next home game at WesBanco Arena takes place on November 3rd, which is a Frosty Friday against Cincinnati at 7:05. The next big promotional game is Marvel Super Hero Night on November 10th against Toledo at 7:05.
