
Jardine Signs AHL Deal with Marlies, Assigned to Solar Bears

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Orlando Solar Bears have announced that defenseman Sam Jardine, who had previously agreed to terms with Orlando over the summer, has been signed to an American Hockey League contract by the Toronto Marlies and assigned to the Solar Bears.

Additionally, forward Shane Conacher, who had previously agreed to terms for the 2017-18 season with Orlando but subsequently signed an AHL contract with the Syracuse Crunch, has had his ECHL rights traded by Orlando to the Adirondack Thunder in exchange for future considerations.

Jardine, 24, had originally agreed to terms with Orlando on Aug. 15. The former sixth-round pick (#169 overall) of the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft won the 2017 Kelly Cup championship with the Colorado Eagles in June with current Solar Bears players Darryl Bootland and Sean Zimmerman. The third-year pro has 25 points (9g-16a) and 125 penalty minutes in 119 career games.

Conacher, 23, played 25 regular season games for Orlando in 2016-17 while assigned by the Toronto Marlies, recording 11 points (2g-9a) and four penalty minutes. He has been held scoreless through two games with Syracuse this season.

The Solar Bears return to the ARS.com Rink at Amway Center to open their home schedule on Saturday, Oct. 28 vs. the Atlanta Gladiators at 7 p.m.
