Kenai River Brown Bears News Release
The North American Hockey League (NAHL) has announced the game schedule for the 17th annual NAHL Showcase, which will be held from September 18-21, 2019, at the Super Rink in Blaine, Minnesota. All 26 NAHL teams will play between three and four regular-season games at the Showcase, which is one of hockey's most prominent and popular events of the entire season and has become the 'Greatest Show on Ice.'
This season, the Brown Bears will take on the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights on September 18th at 3:00pm local time, noon Alaskan time. The Knights finished the 2018-19 season with a record of 26-29-4-1 and narrowly missed the postseason.
On day 2 of the event, Kenai River will face off against the Lone Star Brahmas at 7:30pm central, 4:30pm Alaska. The 2017 Robertson Cup champions won 31 games last season, finishing second in the South Division.
Friday, September 20th, the Brown Bears do battle with another eastern opponent, this time it's the Jamestown Rebels. The Rebels went 35-17-5-3 in 2018-19 and finished second in the East. Face off is scheduled for 4:30pm central, 1:30pm Alaska.
Finally, Kenai River will wrap up the four day event with a prime time game against the Austin Bruins. The final game is scheduled to begin at 6:45pm central, 3:45 Alaska. The Bruins compete in the Central Division and in 2018-19 they went 32-22-0-6, qualifying for the Robertson Cup playoffs.

All 52 NAHL Showcase games will be broadcast live and in HD through HockeyTV, the official broadcast provider of the NAHL.
One of the things the NAHL does better than any other junior league is seeing their players earn an NCAA opportunity while playing and being showcased in the NAHL. To date, a record number of 346 players made NCAA commitments during the 2018-19 season, with 227 (66%) of those being NCAA Division I commitments.
The NAHL Showcase plays a big role in that success, with dozens of players each season earning an NCAA Division I opportunity during and following their participation in the event.
