Marquette - The North American Hockey League as honored two Marquette Rangers for their play last weekend in the team's sweep of the Fairbanks Ice Dogs.

Forward Garrett Ladd connected for three goals and three assists for the Rangers giving him a total of 11 points on the year (4g 7a).  On Friday, the Fenton, Mich., native recorded a goal and three assists in a 5-2 victory.  The next night, the 20-year-old tallied two more goals as the Rangers doubled up the Ice Dogs, 4-2. He was also a plus-3 on the weekend.

"Garrett was the best player on the ice last weekend," said Rangers head coach Kenny Miller.  "When he gets his feet moving, he's hard to defend.  He's a true leader for us, both on and off the ice."

Marquette goaltender Kevin Kissaw backstopped the Rangers to the pair of victories, turning aside 75 of 79 shots on the weekend. On Friday, the Goodrich, Mich., native made 27 saves in a 5-2 victory. The next night, the 19-year-old stopped 48 shots as the Rangers completed the two game sweep 4-2.

"Kevin is our rock, and when he's on his game he's hard to beat," said Rangers head coach Kenny Miller.  "We expect him to play like that most nights."

The Rangers are on the road this weekend against the Motor City Metal Jackets Friday and Saturday night at Yack Arena in Wyandotte. Marquette, 5-1 after six games, currently sits in second place in the NAHL North Division with six points. Motor City is currently two points behind the Rangers in third place with a record of 3-0-2, good for six points on the season.
