NAHL Announces Divisional Stars of the Week

DALLAS, TEXAS - The North American Hockey League (NAHL) today announced the Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey for the week ending January 19, 2020. The Divisional Stars of the Week is a weekly feature during the 2019-20 regular season that honors the top performing players in each of the four NAHL divisions. Only players that are nominated by their respective teams are considered for the Divisional Players of the Week award.
Central Division Star of the Week: Jakub Breault, Forward, Aberdeen Wings
The Aberdeen Wings continued their winning ways this weekend as they widened their division lead to 10 points with a weekend home sweep of the St. Cloud Blizzard and a shootout win over Minot on Tuesday. Forward and Alaska-Fairbanks recruit Jakub Breault, 20, played a big part in all three wins as the 5'11/180 lbs. native of Acton Vale, Quebec, totaled eight points during the week, which included three goals and five assists. On Tuesday, Breault had two assists in a 4-3 shootout win in Minot. On Friday, he had a goal and assist in a 4-1 win against the Blizzard. On Saturday, he had two goals and two assists in a 6-2 win over the Blizzard. For the season, Breault currently leads the Wings in scoring with 44 points in 37 games played. "Jakob's been an outstanding leader for us. He possesses high-end vision and play making skills, while working each night with passion and consistency. Jakob is looked upon to bring us strong offense and this past week showed his ability," said Wings head coach Scott Langer.

East Division Star of the Week: Kyle Jeffers, Forward, New Jersey Titans
The New Jersey Titans held onto the top spot in the NAHL and East Division thanks to three more wins this past week. Forward Kyle Jeffers, 21, made an impact in each of the wins, totaling five points last week. The NAPHL grad and 5'10/170 lbs. native of Oviedo, Florida, started his week with a goal and an assist in a 5-4 win over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights on Wednesday. His success continued on Friday, as the American International commit had another goal and assist in a 4-1 win over the Northeast Generals. On Saturday, he pitched in with an assist in a 6-4 win over the Generals. For the season, Jeffers ranks 2nd in team scoring with 45 points in 35 games played. "Kyle has continued to surge for our team. He has been a consistent contributor to our offensive game plan and attack. Kyle stepped up big time this past week in three critical games against Wilkes-Barre and Northeast. Kyle plays a key role for our team in all situations and we look forward to him continuing to lead our team as we head down the stretch run of the regular season," said Titans head coach Craig Doremus.

Midwest Division Star of the Week: Oliver Kjaer, Forward, Fairbanks Ice Dogs
Fairbanks Ice Dogs forward Oliver Kjaer, 19, helped his team to a weekend home sweep of the New Mexico Ice Wolves. The 6'1/190 lbs. native of Esbjerg, Denmark, had five points in the two wins, which included a goal and four assists. On Friday, Kjaer had the game-winning goal in overtime and two assists in a 4-3 win. On Saturday, he chimed in with two more assists in a 5-0 shutout win. For the season, Kjaer ranks 2nd in team scoring with 36 points in 30 games played so far this season. "Oliver is a highly skilled player that is quickly adapting to our league. His skating, IQ, and hands make him a threat that will become more and more consistent," said Ice Dogs head coach Trevor Stewart.

South Division Star of the Week: Cayden Bailey, Goaltender, Lone Star Brahmas
While he only played in one game this past week, Lone Star Brahmas goalie Cayden Bailey, 20, made it count. The 5'11/180 lbs. native of Estero, Florida, stopped all 22 shots that came way in a 4-0 shutout win over the Corpus Christi IceRays on Saturday. For Bailey, it was his sixth shutout of the season, which ranks tied for 2nd in the NAHL. For the season, Bailey has a 12-5-1 record and currently leads the NAHL in both goals against average (1.38) and save percentage (.939). "Cayden has been solid and consistent for us all season long. We are very confident as a team in our goaltending and Cayden has provided us with great play all season along and will be an important part of success the remainder of the season," said Brahmas head coach Wildfong.
