Seattle Sea Dragons News Release

SEATTLE - For Isaiah Battle and Reuben Mwehla, Tuesday was more than just the start of a new work week with the Dragons.

For the offensive tackle and receiver, it was an opportunity to finally join their teammates for a full practice for the first time since training camp.

Each player has been rehabbing an injury that kept them out of the team's first three games and both were able to put on pads and helmets for the first time seven weeks when the team began its on-field preparations in advance of the team's trip to St. Louis on Saturday for a 2 p.m. matchup with the BattleHawks.

"It was great," said Mwehla, when asked about being back on the field. "When you're hurt, you're on the sidelines itching. It's just great to be around my teammates again.

"It felt great. I feel good. I'm ready to go."

The addition of Mwehla gives Seattle more speed at receiver. The Bellevue High School product was the talk of minicamp after an impressive performance, but injuries slowed him down in training camp.

Now, though, he's anxious to be in uniform Saturday.

"When you're injured, it's a tough thing, because I've never really been injured like that and had to be out for seven, eight weeks," he said. "I just love playing football, so I'm happy to be out here with everybody.

"I always felt like part of the team, but now I'm really with the team doing something. It feels better for sure."

Battle said the layoff was frustrating, but he was all smiles Tuesday.

"Being down for seven weeks, not good," he said. "It hurt me to the core, but we've got a good training staff, good coaches, good players who talked to me, helped me hold my head up high, family. I'm ready to go."

And, being back, well, "It felt great. To be with my team, be with my guys, my favorite guys in the meeting room. It was awesome."

The first day after a layoff always requires a little bit of an adjustment, but both players eased their way into the work week and will ramp up to full speed Wednesday.

"I was a little winded, just a little bit," Battle said. "But, after I got my second wind, I was good. I've been training, so I'm ready."

The addition of the two standouts will provide a boost to the Dragons' offense and they look to get untracked against St. Louis.

"We've got our best playmakers," Battle said. "We're coming in with the group we started training camp with. We were doing pretty well, so I believe we're going to kick it back up and go on a run."
