Mustangs' Jones & Ward Sign with CFL

Milwaukee - The Milwaukee Mustangs congratulate defensive back Andre Jones and quarterback Eric Ward on receiving the opportunity to play football in the Canadian Football League this upcoming season. Jones, signed by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, and Ward, signed by the Edmonton Eskimos, will be attending training camp immediately with their new clubs this week.

Jones (5-11, 195, Akron) became one of the Arena Football League's top defensive playmakers this season with Milwaukee, earning Defensive Player of the Week honors in Week 8 against Tampa Bay and intercepting nine passes as a starter in all 11 games. Jones, who was placed on the other league exempt list on Tuesday, also led the team with 55.5 tackles and 15 passes defensed.

Ward (6'2, 220, Richmond) started the first three games of this season at quarterback for the Mustangs before being replaced by R.J. Archer in Week 4. He threw for 606 yards, eight touchdowns, and three interceptions on 54 of 95 passing in parts of six games this season, while becoming Milwaukee's second leading rusher with 70 yards and five touchdowns on 15 rushing attempts.

"We're very excited to see Eric Ward and Andre Jones move on to the next level," said Mustangs Head Coach Bob Landsee. "This is part of our overall picture here in Milwaukee. We have young kids and are trying to promote them to a higher level. We have a very talented football team."
