
Muskegon's Todd Robinson Honored As IHL Most Valuable Player

ROCHESTER, MI--- The International Hockey League (IHL) announced Thursday that Muskegon Lumberjack center Todd Robinson has been named the 2008-09 IHL Most Valuable Player as selected by league head coaches, general managers and members of the media.
The 30-year-old native of Trail, British Columbia, is currently leading the IHL in scoring with 112 points, scoring 23 goals and dishing out 89 assists in 67 games played with three remaining on the regular season. He is also tied for the league lead in assists (89) and power play assists (32).
He registered two five-point nights during the season, both occurring against Flint. On November 8th, he registered his first five-point night, scoring two goals and having three assists. His second five-point night of the season came on February 14th. That night, he scored one goal and dished out four assists.
Robinson's 89 assists so far this season has broken the Muskegon record for most assists in a single season, previously held by Sergei Kharin who had 86 back in the 1997-98 season. Also, he registered over 100 points for the fifth time in his 10-year career, with four of those seasons being in a Muskegon uniform.
The 5-10, 175-pound center registered a hat trick on opening night against Port Huron, which began his first scoring streak that lasted eight games. Robinson put together several scoring streaks throughout the course of the season. He had nine different scoring streaks with seven of those nine lasting five or more games. He has recorded an astonishing 33 multi-point games, registering two or more points in almost half of his games played.
Robinson was honored with the Pepsi Player of the Week honor three times this season. He will be presented with the award on Saturday, April 11th.
