Batavia Muckdogs News Release

Auburn, NY - By taking two against the Jamestown Jammers the night before, the Muckdogs came into Auburn with renewed hopes for the last month of the season. The Muckdogs were in second place in the Pinckney Division and looking up at the Doubledays. Batavia looked to the right arm of Justin Libey who received a rare spot start for the Muckdogs and pitched a gem as the 'Dogs defeated the Doubledays, 2-1.

Libey worked through trouble and the best hitting team in the NY-Penn League and went 6 innings of 3 hit baseball while allowing no runs. He walked only one Doubleday and struck out nine.

Javon Moran got the ball rolling for the offense with an RBI ground out in the top of the third inning to plate Jose Cortez to give the Muckdogs a 1-0 lead. Batavia got another run in the top of the 4th inning as Tim Moss hit a sacrifice fly to right-center field to bring in Bryan Hansen.

The score stayed 2-0 until the bottom of the 7th inning when Mike Galloway and Christian Snavely each singled against reliever Matt Padilla. An error by Javon Moran let the runners each advance an extra base. Erik Kratz then grounded out to Tim Moss to drive in the lone Auburn run of the night.

Matt Padilla was replaced later in the inning by Chris Rupert who got Paul Richmond to ground out to De Los Santos at SS to end the rally for Auburn. In the bottom of the 9th inning both Christian Snavely and Mike Galloway hit shots into the outfield that fell just short of going over the wall, instead landing in the glove of Jake Blalock to seal the win for Batavia.

Libey picked up his second win of the season and Rupert collected his team leading third save. Both of these teams battle it out in game 10 of a 16 game regular season series tonight at Dwyer Stadium at 7:05pm.
