Muckdogs Game Notes
July 25, 2018 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
Batavia Muckdogs News Release
Today's Game- The Staten Island Yankees come to Dwyer Stadium for the middle game of a three game series. This is the first meeting between the two teams since 2016. Staten Island won the series that year 2-1. Batavia travels out for a six-game road trip to Vermont and State College.
That was last night- Michael Donadio was responsible for the only run that crossed the plate for Batavia in their 7-1 loss yesterday. His solo homer gave Batavia one run in the second. A three-run fifth pushed the Yankees out to their 7-1 lead. The Muckdogs have now dropped four straight.
Donadio digging in- Michael Donadio has now hits in 12 of his last 14 games. He's tallied 17 hits, one home run and has crossed the plate seven times in that span. He is tied for second on the team with two home runs. He left St. John's with the second most all-time hits with 268.
Reynolds Raking- Sean Reynolds has been able to find the power in his bat this season. He currently leads the league in home runs, second in the league lead in RBI's and also leads the league in runs scored. He is also the league leader in walks with 23.
Jammed Up July- Batavia's offense has slowed up significantly in the month of July. They have opened up the first half of the month with a 9-13 record, and have scored only 4.1 runs per game. That has taken a steep decline from the 5.2 runs per game that the Muckdogs were putting up in June.
Close Calls- Batavia has played a total of 36 games this season, 21 of which have been decided by two runs or less. The Muckdogs are 10-11 in those games. Batavia has the fifth best reord in one-run games, and the worst record in two-run games at 2-6.
Beginning from behind- The Muckdogs have had trouble with giving up early leads in ballgames. Batavia has trailed after the fifth inning on 19 different occasions so far this season, and have gone 4-15 in those contests.
Recent Roster Action- On July 24th, Chris Torres was promoted to Greensboro
Marlins Update- The Marlins had yesterday off.
