Batavia Muckdogs News Release
Today's Game- The Muckdogs go for their third straight series win today against the State College Spikes. Batavia dropped game one of the series, but took last night's game by an 8-3 margin. After an off day, Batavia goes to Connecticut for a three game trip against the Tigers.
That was yesterday- A five run seventh inning was the difference in an 8-3 victory for Batavia. Sean Reynolds scored three runs in the game, and also launched a home run for the Muckdogs. Batavia went 5-11 with RISP to capitalize on their opportunites.
Runs, Runs, Runs- Batavia has some of the top scorers in the league, with Sean Reynolds sitting in first place with 19 runs scored, Jerar Encarnacion with 15, and Demetrius Sims in third with 13. The Muckdogs have three of the top five run scorers in the league, and sit in second in total runs scored with 117 total runs this season.
Missing Encarnacion- The Muckdogs' offense has been missing Jerar Encarnacion, who has been on a tear to start off the season he was on an 11 game hit streak before going down with injury. The Muckdogs have crossed the six run threshold only three times in the eleven games that Encarnacion has missed. Batavia is 5-6 since Encarnacion left the lineup.
Beginning from behind- The Muckdogs have had trouble with giving up early leads in ballgames. Batavia has trailed after the fifth inning on 12 different occasions so far this season, and have gone 4-9 in those contests.
Seldom Spikes Sightings- There are only six more meetings between the Muckdogs and the Spikes after today's ballgame. The games are split evenly between Batavia and Happy Valley.
Recent Roster Action- On July 9th, LHP Karl Craigie was optioned to the GCL, and RHP Eli Villalobos was assigned to the Batavia Muckdogs.
Marlins Update- Miami flipped the script on Washington by putting up ten runs in a 10-2 victory over the Nats. JT Realmuto had five hits in a 22-hit game for the Marlins' offense.
