Chicago Rush News Release
July 11, 2007 - Chicago Rush linebacker John Moyer has been named the Arena Football League's Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in Monday night's playoff win over Los Angeles, the AFL announced.
Moyer recorded three tackles, two sacks and broke up a pass during Chicago's 52-20 win, which moved the Rush into Saturday's American Conference Final at San Jose.
It is the fourth-consecutive season in which the Rush has advanced to the AFL's semifinals.
"John is a veteran who knows how to step up his game in the playoffs," said Rush head coach Mike Hohensee. "The pressure he and the other linemen put on the quarterback Monday night was a big key to the victory for us."
Moyer's two sacks gave him nine for his playoff career and moves him into second place in AFL history in postseason sacks, trailing only James Baron's 9.5 career playoff sacks.
