Washington Glory News Release

CHANTILLY, VA -- Rookie Taryne Mowatt struck out 12 Racers, including striking out the side twice in the game, in her second complete-game victory of the season and Sara Larquier hit her league-leading 13th home run of the season to propel the Glory to a 3-0 victory on Saturday night.

Mowatt, who started the season 0-4, is now 3-0 with a 0.57 ERA since allowing a game-winning home run to Rachel Folden of the Chicago Bandits back on July 12. Mowatt struck out the final four batters of the game to earn the victory.

Leah English hit her first career home run in the fifth inning to give the Glory a 1-0 lead and that's all Mowatt would need, but Larquier hammered a Jamee Juarez (0-5) rise ball over the centerfield fence with two out and a runner on in the sixth to make it 3-0 Washington.

The Glory and Racers play the third game of the four-game series Sunday night at 7:05 p.m. at the Westfield Softball Complex. The Glory's victory allowed Philadelphia to clinch a playoff spot and Chicago pending the outcome of their game in New England.
