Moussa Dagnogo Returns to Duty

INDIANAPOLIS- Moussa Dagnogo, the Blast's second leading scorer in 2002, is returning to action tomorrow night against the Charlotte Eagles after having knee surgery in May of 2003. Dagnogo suffered a lateral meniscus tear in pre-season and has not played a game for the Blast during the 2003 season.
Dagnogo underwent reconstructive surgery in May and has been cleared to join the club on their trip to Charlotte, NC today for their match tomorrow evening. With intense rehabilitation at Methodist Sports Medicine Center over the last two months, Dagnogo has made a speedy and full recovery.
In 2002, Dagnogo signed with the Blast 16 games into the season and finished out his season with seven goals, one assist, and 11 starts.
"I feel well and ready to contribute," said Dagnogo. "It's time to get this season turned around and with the team we have, we can do it."
PLAYER TRANSACTIONS-The Blast have signed another Blast from the Past. Defender Jon Pickup has returned to the Blast after spending the last two seasons with the Riverhawks. Pickup spent the '98, '99, and '00 seasons with the Blast playing logging over 6,600 minutes in 73 games and contributing to three goals and two assists.
The Blast have also signed their second round draft pick and former IUPUI player Ben Higginbotham to an amateur contract for the remainder of the season. Higginbotham finished his collegiate career this fall in sixth place on IUPUI's career scoring list. He compiled 52 points on 20 goals and 12 assists in 75 matches. During his career, Higginbotham was a three-time all-conference selection, including being named first team as a junior and senior. The 6'3 powerhouse will be playing in a defensive midfield roll for the Blast.
SOME LIKE IT HOT-Don't forget to sign up for the 1st annual Some Like It HOT Adult 4 on 4 tournament scheduled for July 26th. The day-long event will be followed by a pre-game party with the Blast kicking off at 10:00pm against the Vancouver Whitecaps in their only meeting of the 2003 regular season. THIS WEEK-The Blast departed this afternoon for Charlotte, NC to take on the Charlotte Eagles tomorrow evening at 6:30pm. The Blast will return home early Saturday to prepare for their match against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds Sunday night, July 13th at 7:35pm at Kuntz Stadium.
