Morrison reassigned to Columbia

The Manitoba Moose announced that they have reassigned right winger Justin Morrison to the Columbia Inferno of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL).

Morrison, 23, played in all 14 Moose playoff games during the 2003 AHL Playoffs. He notched two goals (one was a game-winner) and three assists for five points with a +5 rating and four penalty minutes. In the regular season, the rugged winger played in 30 AHL matches and added 16 points (ten goals, six assists) with 13 PIM. He had a five-game point streak from Jan. 28-Feb. 5/03.

Morrison started the 2002-03 season with Columbia. He was assigned to the Inferno on October 9/02 and played in 40 ECHL games and registered 55 points (20 goals and 35 assists) with 39 penalty minutes. The Los Angeles, CA native was selected as an ECHL All-Star. In the ECHL All-Star Game, he pocketed two goals and captured two individual awards during the All-Star Skills competition. Morrison won the puck control relay and was named the fastest skater with a time of 14.61 seconds.

The second-year pro was named ECHL player of the week for the week of October 21-27 when in three games he scored eight points (five goals and three assists). The 6'3", 220 lb forward had 19 multi-point ECHL games this season.

Morrison was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks with their fourth choice, 81st overall, in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. He was recalled to Manitoba on January 24/03.
