Stockton Lightning News Release

STOCKTON, Calif. - Stockton Lightning WR/DB Kenyatte Morgan was selected as the seventh greatest kick returner and kicker Alex Walls was selected as the 10th greatest kicker of arenafootball2 history, as selected by votes from af2 head coaches (past and present), media and fans.

Through five seasons of af2 experience, Morgan is the af2's all-time leader in kick-return yards (5,647).

As a member of the Lightning for three seasons (2006-08), Morgan led the Lightning with 2,659 all-purpose yards and 1,540 kick-return yards in 2007, additionally ranking second on the Lightning in receiving yards (1,049) and third in touchdown receptions (15).

Morgan is the Lightning career leader in scoring (228 points), kickoff return yards (3,333) and receiving yards (1,768).

Morgan, 30, garnered all-af2 First Team honors for the second time in his af2 career in 2006, leading the league with 23.2 average kick-return yards, 1,793 kick-return yards (second-best career output), four kick return touchdowns, and ranking second in the league with 2,644 all-purpose yards. Morgan's season-best for kick returns came on June 3 versus the Memphis Xplorers, returning 10 kicks for 227 yards, while posting 266 all-purpose yards.

Morgan had two games in 2006 with 200 kick-return yards or more, while tallying 100 kick-return yards or more in a stretch of six out of seven games.

Walls posted an array of heart-stopping performances in game-winning situations for the Lightning in two seasons (2006-07), part of a five-year career with Stockton, Tennessee and Birmingham. Previous to a 25-yard strike with no time left that sunk Central Valley 50-48 on July 5 last season, Walls hammered two buzzer-beating 39-yard field goals in 2007, helping the Lightning upend rival Central Valley in a 50-47 triumph in the week 3 home opener, followed by a 55-54 victory on May 14 at Everett.

Walls currently stands second on the af2's all-time field goal list with 46 field goals.

The Lightning open the 2009 af2 regular season on Saturday, March 28 against the Central Valley Coyotes with a Week One road matchup at Selland Arena, starting at 7:30 p.m. Both teams face a Week Four rematch in the Lightning home opener on Saturday, April 18 at 7:00 p.m. at Stockton Arena.
