Moose Clinch Berth in 2011 Calder Cup Playoffs
April 3, 2011 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Manitoba Moose News Release
With their 3-2 victory over the Toronto Marlies today at Ricoh Coliseum, the Manitoba Moose are pleased to confirm they have clinched a spot in the 2011 Calder Cup playoffs. The Moose currently sit in first place in the North Division with 93 points, two points ahead of the Hamilton Bulldogs and three in front of the Lake Erie Monsters who are third in the division. Both the Bulldogs and Monsters have two games in hand on Manitoba.
Moose Calder Cup playoff tickets are on-sale at all Ticketmaster locations, or by phone at 204-780-3333, or online at www.ticketmaster.ca.
With the win, the Moose are now 43-28-1-6 after 78 games. This is the seventh consecutive season the Moose have qualified for the Calder Cup playoffs and seventh consecutive season they have won 40 or more games. They currently have a record of 22-13-0-4 versus North Division opponents, while boasting a 19-10-1-2 record versus West Division teams. The Moose have two regular season games remaining this season against Hamilton Friday, April 8th and Saturday, April 9th at MTS Centre. Game time both nights is 7:30 p.m.
Playoff dates, as well as a playoff opponent, have yet to be determined. With the crossover format in place this season, the Moose could still face one of eight opponents from both the North and West Divisions in the opening round. If the fifth-place team in the West Division finishes with more points than the fourth-place team in the North, it would cross over and compete in the North Division playoffs. If the fifth-place team in the West Division finishes with more points than the third-place team in the North, then the team that finishes first in the North Division will face the third-place team in the North Division in the opening round of the playoffs.
Moose fans can now get their Calder Cup playoff tickets as well as games on April 8th & 9th versus the Hamilton Bulldogs by calling Ticketmaster at 780-3333, or online at www.ticketmaster.ca.
