Published on August 4, 2006 under Canadian Football League (CFL) News Release

Toronto, ON (August 4, 2006) - The Canadian Football League (CFL) would like to congratulate Warren Moon on his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

"On behalf of the Canadian Football League, please accept our sincerest and heartiest congratulations on your induction into Pro Football's Hall Of Fame" remarked CFL Commissioner Tom Wright. "Your induction truly reflects your entire career, including the six years in the CFL in which you became one of the most successful quarterbacks in League history. While your football journey took you to the National Football League and you elevated your game to a new level of success with consistency and longevity, you were always quick to acknowledge the importance of the Canadian Football League. You are a role model not only for black quarterbacks, many of whom are fulfilling their own dreams today because of what you did, but your leadership skills on the field and in the community have made you a shining example for all young football players everywhere. In that sense, you should be commended as a true football pioneer. Few people have had that kind of overall impact in this great game."

Moon will be formally enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame tomorrow, Saturday, August 5 in Canton, Ohio.

The former CFL quarterback played six years with Edmonton Eskimos, winning five consecutive Grey Cups before embarking on 17-year career in the National Football League.
