Monterrey's Mireles added to MISL international team

(Westport, Conn., February 24, 2004) – Monterrey Fury goalkeeper Hector Mireles will replace injured Philadelphia KiXX goalkeeper Peter Pappas on the MISL International All-Star team, the League has announced. Mireles will join Monterrey teammates Genoni Martinez and Marco Lopez as the International side takes on the MISL USA All-Stars this Sunday, February 29, in the 2004 MISL All-Star Game. Kickoff at the Family Arena in St. Charles, MO, is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. Central.

Pappas has been hampered by an ankle injury in recent weeks, and suffered a fracture in his right hand in Philadelphia's 8-3 loss to Milwaukee on Sunday, February 22. The Toronto native is third in the MISL in goals against average (4.46), second in wins (15), and leads the circuit in both saves (335) and save percentage (.774).

Mireles will make his All-Star debut in his first indoor season. He is currently 6-12 with a 5.37 goals against average, and his .740 save percentage ranks fourth in the League. Over his last three games, Mireles has posted an .827 save percentage and 3.03 goals against average.
