Monterey Bay F.C. Looks to Extend Unbeaten Run in Match against Rio Grande Valley FC in Seaside

SEASIDE, California - Monterey Bay F.C. (3-2-2, 11 points) returns to action for a 7 p.m. PT kickoff at home against Rio Grande Valley FC (1-2-3, 6 points) in Week 8 of the 2023 USL Championship regular season, presented by 1st Capital Bank. Saturday's match will be broadcast locally via KION on Central Coast CW (35.1 over the air, channel 14 Xfinity), with live streaming available on ESPN+.

The Crisp and Kelp and the Toros met earlier this season on March 24. After Alex Dixon opened the scoring in the 62nd of the match to give the Union the lead, Mobi Fehr was dismissed from the match nine minutes later to leave the visitors a man down for the final stretch. The hosts would capitalize on the advantage in the 90+1 minute of the match and it ended level at 1-1. Rio Grande Valley FC owns the all-time record 2-0-1 over the Union after sweeping Monterey Bay with wins in Seaside and Edinburg, Texas in MBFC's inaugural season last year.

Unbeaten in five matches across all competitions and coming off a historic 1-0 win over MLS side San Jose Earthquakes in the third round of the 2023 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, Monterey Bay is looking to carry that momentum into the weekend and earn its first win over the Toros to date. Meanwhile, Rio Grande Valley has gone the opposite direction recently having dropped three straight matches in all competitions and will look to rebound with a result in Seaside.
