Forward Terry Broadhurst tallies Cleveland's lone goal in Saturday defeat in Des Moines.

DES MOINES, IA - The Cleveland Monsters, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, were defeated by the Iowa Wild on Saturday at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, IA by a final score of 6-1. With the loss, Cleveland fell to 5-4-2-0 overall this season and with a .545 points percentage, currently sit alone in fifth place in the AHL's Central Division standings.

Iowa started quickly on Saturday as the Wild grabbed a 2-0 lead in the opening stanza with a power-play goal from Zack Mitchell at 4:09 and an even-strength marker from Justin Kloos at 10:22. In the middle frame, Iowa doubled their lead to 4-0 with a penalty-shot finish from Kyle Rau at 4:32 and another Mitchell strike, again with the extra skater, at 9:51.

In the third, an even-strength Pat Cannone tally made it 5-0 Wild at 5:17 before Cleveland winger Terry Broadhurst notched his first goal as a Monster thanks to a five-on-five feed from Justin Scott at 13:45 to make it 5-1. Iowa had the last laugh, however, in a 6-1 win as Cristoph Bertshy potted an even-strength marker at 17:05.

Monsters goaltender Matiss Kivlenieks fell to 1-3-1 in net for the Monsters despite stopping 21 pucks on Saturday while Iowa's Steve Michalek improved to 2-0-0 between the pipes for Iowa by virtue of a 30-save performance.
